We have a large and annoying species of birds that lives all over India, but more specifically in the tree outside of our window. It is a species of Cuckoo called the Koel and likes to play its loud mating music on its boombox until early in the morning. However, unlike like the unruly neighbor that plays Van Halen's "Panama" over and over again until 3:00 A.M., this bird's sound could literally shatter a champagne flute. In addition to the ear piercing sounds that spew from its gullet, it has a whole repetoire of "annoying child in the backseat on a roadtrip" songs that would make Britney Spears ralph. Our personal favorite is the most prevalent mating call that literally sounds like bird is prepping to explode all over the lush Indian foliage.
We are still working on it, but we hope to have a compilation album by the end of the year between Kenny G, Zamfir, and the mighty Koel with the working title "Eardrums on Fire - A Tale of Love, Loss, and Horrific Ear Hemorrhaging." Pre-order now as this album is sure to fly off of the shelves.
Here is a YouTube video created by someone else with the same sentiment that gives you a taste of that wonderful song:
